Responsibility

We collaborate with management teams to integrate responsible business practices

By collaborating with management teams to integrate responsible business practices into portfolio companies’ strategies, we can manage Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risks while creating sustainable value.

2024 / 2025 ESG & Sustainability Report

How ESG works at TDR

Our ESG policy sets out our firm-wide commitment to ESG management, covering roles and responsibilities, our integration of ESG considerations across the deal cycle, reporting, communications and how TDR manages its own direct impact.

Our Head of ESG & Sustainability, Nigel Smith, is Chair of TDR’s Responsible Investment Committee. Nigel works closely with portfolio companies to embed ESG into their strategies, attend ESG committee meetings, complete performance reviews and act as a critical friend.

Environmental

  • Developing an understanding of both physical and transitional risks across our portfolio is an ongoing focus.
  • We monitor and prioritise resource efficiency.
  • We work with a climate advisory firm to identify untapped low carbon opportunities across our portfolio; we are now prioritising sizeable opportunities which can help accelerate the transition to net zero.
  • We track and reduce our own carbon emissions and compensate for any unavoidable emissions by using renewable energy and buying carbon offsets.

Social

  • Our portfolio companies employ over 300,000 people worldwide, and we work to ensure that they offer high-quality learning and development opportunities and foster safe, diverse workplaces.
  • We participate in various industry initiatives to encourage diversity and inclusion within the financial sector, such as Level 20, Out Investors, 10,000 Interns Foundation and the London Futures Disability Employability Programme.

Governance

  • TDR’s strong governance framework incorporates safeguards against bribery, corruption and money laundering, data protection and cybersecurity and corporate governance.
  • We help portfolio companies with, among other things, monitoring and reporting systems that ensure compliance with company Codes of Conduct and Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policies.
  • Governance performance is reported on quarterly, alongside notification of any cyber and data breaches, with supporting KPIs provided annually.

Reporting

Our ESG & Sustainability report demonstrates how we invest responsibly while engaging with and supporting our portfolio companies on key issues. We also now publish an annual Taskforce for Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) report.

Collective futures

In 2024, TDR established Collective Futures, with the intention of using our skillset and resources to support positive social change.
