We created Stonegate Pub Company in 2010 to acquire a portfolio of c. 330 pubs from Mitchells & Butlers. Since then, Stonegate has been transformed into the largest pub operator in the UK through a series of add-on acquisitions and the transformational acquisition of Ei Group’s estate of 4,000 pubs in 2020.

Stonegate is the largest pub company in the UK operating c. 4,500 pubs across the country formed through the merger of Stonegate Pub Company and Ei Group in March 2020. The estate consists of traditional pubs in both high street and suburban locations as well as leading branded bars, including Slug & Lettuce, Yates and Walkabout.

Since TDR’s investment

  • We have grown the initial Stonegate platform substantially through a series of add-on acquisitions, with a focus on building the high street drinks-led pub market champion
  • We hired an industry-leading management team and have supported them in integrating these add-on acquisitions, as well as driving performance through a number of operational initiatives and significant capital investment to refurbish the estate
  • Stonegate’s management is strongly positioned for the next phase of the business focused on integrating Ei’s estate onto the Stonegate platform and executing a capital investment programme to transform a significant part of the acquired estate
